A couple of weeks ago I had a fun “Battle of the Bundles” vote on my Facebook page and poor Oh So Succulent came last with only 1 vote! It seems to be quite a polarising bundle with people either loving it or hating. I am hoping that today’s project will change everyone’s mind to LOVE it! This white frame has been on display in my entrance way for several years (ever since we received them as a gift from Stampin’ Up! at a managers event) and I regularly update the display in it with the latest Stampin’ Up! product. Well it was a few months overdue for it’s latest facelift and the succulents were the perfect option:
I created several sizes of succulent using the Succulent Framelit Dies and then added lots of sponging to give them that depth of colour and tone I wanted. They are all sponged with Sahara Sand, Old Olive & Rich Razzleberry ink- surprisingly these took very little time to create and are the perfect thing to make while you watch something good on TV (I personally recommend Outlander – massive fan of this series!). Once all the sponging was done I used Multi-purpose adhesive to put all the layers together and once dried I squished and tweaked the petals until I had them each looking just the way I wanted.
The dried moss came from my local florist and is simply hot glued to cardstock cut to fit the frame. I also used hot glue to adhere the flowers to the piece.
I LOVE how this piece turned out and have ideas for a couple of other succulent decor items for my home – they are flowers that I can actually keep alive (I am well known for my lack of ability at keeping house plants alive!)
